New home painting, sealed & finished the right way.
It starts with a sealer coat over all bare surfaces, then a durable, washable two-coat finish, working alongside builders and homeowners across Newcastle & the Hunter to give every new build the premium finish it deserves. Family-run crew, backed by a 5-year workmanship warranty.
The finish a new build deserves
A premium, properly sealed finish for your new build
A new build starts with the builder’s handover coat, a single base coat that gets the home to completion looking clean. A full new-home finish takes it further: a sealer coat over all bare surfaces, then two durable, washable topcoats. That is what gives you depth of colour and a hard-wearing, wipe-clean surface for years to come.
Whether you’re a builder who wants a standout handover for your clients or an owner making the home yours, we’re the crew that delivers it. Two coats put more paint on the wall, and sealing every bare surface first is what makes it last. We are a family-run Hunter crew who work alongside builders and homeowners across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland and the surrounding Hunter.
See the difference
The handover coat vs a full new home finish
The builder’s handover coat gets a home to completion. A full new-home finish is a different scope of work, sealing every bare surface and adding two topcoats, and the difference is easiest to see side by side.
| Standard handover coat | Platinum new home finish | |
|---|---|---|
| Coats | Single handover base coat | Sealer coat over all bare surfaces, then two full topcoats |
| Durability | Handover-grade finish | Hard-wearing, resists knocks |
| Washability | Not designed for washing | Wipes clean without lifting |
| Coverage | Base coverage, some areas primed only | Even coverage across the whole home |
| Longevity | A starting point to build on | Built to last for years |
The handover coat is a solid starting point. We build on it, sealing every bare surface and adding two premium topcoats, to deliver the finish a new home deserves, whether you’re the builder arranging it as an upgrade or the owner once you move in.
What we cover
Our new home painting services across the Hunter
We provide complete interior and exterior painting for new construction. We can finish the entire house or focus on specific zones, tailored to your build and your priorities.
Interior walls, ceilings & trims
Walls, high ceilings, skirting boards, door frames and architraves, with crisp cut-in around switches and power points.
Exterior render, eaves & fascia
Salt air, harsh UV and Hunter humidity all stress a coating, so we choose weatherproof systems built for that climate across render, cladding, eaves, fascia and garage doors.
The right finish for each room
Durable satin and eggshell on high-traffic walls, gloss or semi-gloss where moisture hits, and a flat matte on ceilings to hide minor imperfections.
Sealer coat over all bare surfaces
Every bare surface, new plaster, render and more, gets a sealer coat before topcoats. We never skip it, because it is the preparation a durable, long-lasting finish depends on.
Colour consultation & feature walls
Free, tailored colour advice with every quote, including feature walls and colour zoning to give your new home character from day one.
Whole-home or specific zones
Finish the entire new build inside and out, or focus on the rooms that matter most, tailored to your handover and your plans.
Our new-build process
How we paint a new home, step by step
Painting a new build correctly is a sequence, not a rushed recoat. Here is exactly how we work.
When to paint a new build
Timing your painting around handover
Fresh plaster and render need to cure and dry before they can be painted. The good news is that modern plasterboard homes can usually be painted soon after handover once surfaces are dry, not a year later as many people assume. You do not need to wait twelve months for the house to settle.
Minor movement and settling cracks are normal in any new home, and we simply fill them and return for touch-ups if any appear. We coordinate closely with your builder and the other trades, painting once flooring, electrical and joinery are complete so nothing gets marked afterwards. A full new-home repaint usually runs over several days, and painting is cleaner and simpler before your furniture arrives.
Builder handover vs owner-arranged. The builder’s contract usually covers the standard handover coat. A full finish, a sealer coat over all bare surfaces plus two topcoats, can be arranged by the builder as an upgrade or by the owner once they take ownership. Either way, we handle it end to end.
Getting the colour right
Colour schemes for your new home
A new build is a blank canvas, which is the best time to choose the right colour from the start rather than living with builder white for years. We help you pick a cohesive palette of neutral base colours with tailored feature-wall colours that flow from room to room, because a cohesive scheme makes a home feel considered rather than pieced together.
We also test each colour under both natural and artificial light, since the same colour can read very differently through the day in Hunter and coastal homes. Getting it right from the outset is far easier than repainting later, and a free colour consultation comes with every quote.

New home FAQ
Common questions about new home painting
Do I need to repaint if the builder already painted?
The builder’s handover coat is a single base coat that gets the home to completion. Most owners choose a full finish, a sealer coat over all bare surfaces plus two durable, washable topcoats, for a harder-wearing result. Building new? We can deliver that premium finish as part of the build.
How long should you leave a new build before painting?
Only long enough for fresh plaster and render to cure and dry. You do not need to wait a year for the house to settle. Modern plasterboard homes are typically ready soon after handover.
Can you paint a newly built house, or do you have to wait?
You can paint it once the surfaces are cured and dry. We assess this on site and seal the fresh surfaces properly before any topcoats go on.
What is the procedure for painting a new house?
First we prep and protect with drop cloths and masking, then fill and sand. Next we apply a sealer coat over all bare surfaces, including fresh plaster and render. We then prime and apply two premium topcoats, finish trims, doors and enamel in satin, and complete a final walkthrough with touch-ups.
What paint do painters use on new builds?
We use premium trade brands such as Dulux, Taubmans, Haymes and Wattyl, matched to each surface. Fresh plaster is sealed first, then finished with two durable, washable topcoats.
How much does it cost to paint a 3-bed or 4-bed house in the Hunter?
Cost depends on home size, interior versus exterior, surface condition, ceiling height and colour changes. We provide a fixed-price written quote after a free on-site assessment, with no hidden costs.
Which areas do you cover?
Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Thornton, Cameron Park, Fletcher and Cessnock, across the surrounding Hunter. We are local painters who know the region.
